<p>Wanna know how to give yourself a pedicure at home?</p>

<p>If your feet and toes need some TLC but you don&#8217;t have time to get to the salon, this post is going to save your life!</p>

<p>We&#8217;ll go over everything you need to do a perfect pedicure and the exact steps to follow.</p>

<p>After that, we&#8217;ll answer your questions about pedicures and give you some tips, tricks, and product recommendations.</p>

<p>Sound good?</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s dip our toes right in.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;ll cover:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What do I need to give myself a pedicure?</h2>

<p>You want your pedicure to be a relaxing and stress-free experience.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s not going to happen if you&#8217;re being interrupted every 5 minutes or you&#8217;re running around trying to find things.</p>

<p>So before you start, find a suitable space where you won&#8217;t be disturbed.</p>

<p>Gather together everything you need and put it within reach of you before you begin.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll need:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>A towel</li><li>A bowl of warm water (large enough to soak your feet in)</li><li>Nail polish remover</li><li>Cotton balls or pads</li><li>Nail clippers</li><li>Nail file</li><li>Cuticle softener/remover (optional)</li><li>A cuticle pusher or orangewood stick</li><li>Buffer</li><li>A foot file or pumice stone</li><li>Foot scrub</li><li>Moisturizing lotion or oil</li><li>Epsom salt, sea salt, or Himalayan salt (optional)</li><li>Soap or shower gel</li><li>Base coat</li><li>Nail polish in your chosen color</li><li>Top coat</li></ul>

<p>A cuticle softener or removal product is optional, but it does help if you have hard cuticles.</p>

<p>You apply it after you soak your feet and leave it on for around 10 minutes or so.</p>

<p>Adding salt to the water is also optional, but it has a lot of healing properties and can really make a difference to tired feet.</p>

<p>Once you&#8217;ve gathered all of your pedicure supplies, It&#8217;s time to get started.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to give yourself a pedicure &#8211; 10 steps</h2>

<p>Here are the steps to follow for the perfect at-home pedicure:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1: Remove your old nail polish</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-removal-from-toes.jpg" alt="nail polish removal from toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13003" width="547" height="547" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 1" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-removal-from-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-removal-from-toes-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-removal-from-toes-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-removal-from-toes-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px" /></figure>

<p>The first step is to remove your old nail polish.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re using an acetone-based nail polish remover, be sure to use it in a well-ventilated area.</p>

<p>Cotton balls are ok for this but they do tend to leave little bits of material that can stick to your nails.</p>

<p>Your best bet is to use lint-free wipes or cotton pads instead.</p>

<p>Soak the pad/wipe in the nail polish remover and place it on your toenail.</p>

<p>Hold it down for 10 seconds over each nail.</p>

<p>Then, use a gentle circular motion to wipe away the polish.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: Soak your feet (for 5-10 minutes)</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/soak-feet-in-bowl.jpg" alt="soak feet in bowl https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13005" width="597" height="597" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 2" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/soak-feet-in-bowl.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/soak-feet-in-bowl-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/soak-feet-in-bowl-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/soak-feet-in-bowl-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></figure>

<p>Place both feet into a large bowl of warm soapy water for 5 to 10 minutes.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a bowl that&#8217;s big enough for you to submerge both feet, plastic laundry carriers and ice buckets can work very well.</p>

<p>You can use shower gel, bath soak, or even a bath bomb in your foot bath.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re using salt, you can either throw that in as well or do a second soak with just water and salt to remove impurities.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3: Exfoliate with the scrub</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Exfoliate-with-the-scrub.jpg" alt="Exfoliate with the scrub https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13006" width="565" height="565" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 3" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Exfoliate-with-the-scrub.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Exfoliate-with-the-scrub-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Exfoliate-with-the-scrub-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Exfoliate-with-the-scrub-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 565px) 100vw, 565px" /></figure>

<p>Once your feet are soaked, lift them out of the water (but don&#8217;t dry them off just yet).</p>

<p>Take your foot scrub and rub it all over, paying special attention to your heels, the balls of your feet, and all around your toes.</p>

<p>Dunk your feet to wash off the scrub.</p>

<p>You can use any kind of scrub for this (face scrub, exfoliating body wash, etc).</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a scrub you can mix a tablespoon of honey with a tablespoon of sugar or salt and it will do the trick.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4: Dry your feet and use the pumice stone</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/use-the-pumice-stone-on-feet.jpg" alt="use the pumice stone on feet https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13007" width="570" height="570" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 4" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/use-the-pumice-stone-on-feet.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/use-the-pumice-stone-on-feet-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/use-the-pumice-stone-on-feet-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/use-the-pumice-stone-on-feet-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px" /></figure>

<p>Place your towel on the floor next to your bowl and put both feet onto it.</p>

<p>Let the water soak into the towel for a few seconds then dry your feet thoroughly.</p>

<p>Make sure you get in between those tootsies!</p>

<p>Once your feet are dry, take the pumice stone and gently rub it over your heels, toes, and balls of your feet.</p>

<p>This will remove any dead skin, leaving your feet feeling soft and silky smooth.</p>

<p>Wipe your feet down with the towel and you&#8217;re ready for nail care.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 5: Push your cuticles back</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Push-your-toe-cuticles-back.jpg" alt="Push your toe cuticles back https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13008" width="520" height="520" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 5" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Push-your-toe-cuticles-back.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Push-your-toe-cuticles-back-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Push-your-toe-cuticles-back-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Push-your-toe-cuticles-back-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></figure>

<p>If you&#8217;re going to be using a cuticle remover/softener, apply it now and wait 10 minutes before proceeding.</p>

<p>Then, use a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick to gently push your cuticles back.</p>

<p>Be careful not to push too hard.</p>

<p>Run the tool around the edges of each nail to get all the layers of cuticle off the nail plate.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 6: Trim, file, and buff your toenails</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/trim-toes.jpg" alt="trim toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13009" width="538" height="538" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 6" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/trim-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/trim-toes-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/trim-toes-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/trim-toes-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px" /></figure>

<p>If your toenails need cutting, do that now.</p>

<p>Otherwise, you can just go ahead and file them into shape.</p>

<p>If you have ingrown toenails, it&#8217;s important not to cut them too short.</p>

<p>Once you&#8217;re done filing, take a buffer or buffing block and quickly go over the nail plate on each toe.</p>

<p>This will make your toenails smooth and remove any minor ridges.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 7: Apply base coat</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/apply-base-coat-to-toes.jpg" alt="apply base coat to toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13010" width="552" height="552" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 7" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/apply-base-coat-to-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/apply-base-coat-to-toes-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/apply-base-coat-to-toes-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/apply-base-coat-to-toes-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px" /></figure>

<p>Now for the fun part!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s time to start painting.</p>

<p>Apply a thin layer of base coat and let it dry.</p>

<p>Base coats tend to dry pretty quickly, so 5 minutes should be plenty of time to wait before adding a coat of color.</p>

<p>If you are using gel polish, you&#8217;ll need to cure it under a nail lamp before you can apply gel color.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 8: Apply 2 coats of nail polish</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-on-toes.jpg" alt="nail polish on toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13011" width="574" height="574" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 8" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-on-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-on-toes-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-on-toes-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-on-toes-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px" /></figure>

<p>Take your colored polish and apply a thin coat.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re using regular nail polish, allow at least 10 minutes for it to dry (I leave mine for 20 minutes just to be safe).</p>

<p>Then apply a second coat and wait another 10 (to 20) minutes.</p>

<p>Of course, if you&#8217;re using gel nail polish then just go ahead and paint it on and cure right away.</p>

<p>Don&#8217;t forget to remove the sticky inhibition layer before adding the second coat of color.</p>

<p>If you want to add any nail art or gems, now&#8217;s the time to do that.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 9: Add a topcoat</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/top-coat-toes.jpg" alt="top coat toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13012" width="561" height="413" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 9" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/top-coat-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/top-coat-toes-300x221.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/top-coat-toes-768x566.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px" /></figure>

<p>Paint on a topcoat of your choice.</p>

<p>You could go with a glossy or matte finish, it&#8217;s totally up to you.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 10: Moisturize</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Moisturize-feeet.jpg" alt="Moisturize feeet https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-13013" width="567" height="685" title="Step-by-Step Guide: How to Give Yourself a Pedicure Like a Pro 10" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Moisturize-feeet.jpg 828w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Moisturize-feeet-248x300.jpg 248w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Moisturize-feeet-768x928.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px" /></figure>

<p>Once your nails are dry, it&#8217;s time to moisturize.</p>

<p>Apply a lotion, cream, or oil to your feet and massage in.</p>

<p>If you want, you can put on a pair of socks to help lock in the moisture.</p>

<p>I recommend waiting at least an hour after the polish is dry before doing this.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s it. all that&#8217;s left to do now is sit back and admire your shiny new toes!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s the best thing to soak your feet in for a pedicure?</h2>

<p>The best thing to soak your feet in for a pedicure is warm water and either shower gel or bath soak.</p>

<p>You can also use a bath bomb if you like.</p>

<p>If you have tired and aching feet, warm water with Epsom salt or Himalayan salt is a great choice.</p>

<p>Other alternatives include milk, which is great for the skin.</p>

<p>And even red wine, which has anti-oxidant and inflammatory properties.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pedicure procedure at home</h2>

<p>Here is the pedicure procedure to follow if you&#8217;re doing a DIY pedi at home:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Remove old nail polish</li><li>Soak feet in warm water and soap for 5-10 minutes</li><li>Exfoliate your feet with a foot scrub</li><li>Dry your feet</li><li>Use a pumice stone to get rid of rough and dead skin</li><li>Push back cuticles</li><li>Trim, file, and buff your toenails</li><li>Apply base coat</li><li>Paint on 2 coats of your colored polish</li><li>Add a topcoat and let dry</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pedicure massage steps</h2>

<p>You may want to add a massage to your at-home pedicure routine.</p>

<p>Here are the steps to follow to give yourself a luxurious foot and leg massage:</p>

<p><strong>1. Start by making sure your feet are completely dry.</strong></p>

<p><strong>2. Take some massage oil or lotion and rub it into your calves and feet using small circular motions.</strong></p>

<p>Try to maintain constant pressure and rhythmic movement you do this.</p>

<p>Use your thumbs to massage in the product.</p>

<p><strong>3. Squeeze the heel of the foot and then work your fingers under the arches of the feet.</strong></p>

<p>Work your way up the foot, massaging the muscles and tendons.</p>

<p><strong>4. Use your fingers to gently massage and stretch out the toes</strong>.</p>

<p>5<strong>. Finish by massaging the top of the foot.</strong></p>

<p>Follow these steps and you&#8217;ll be feeling relaxed in no time.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pedicure tips</h2>

<p>Here are some of my tips and tricks for a great pedicure experience and results.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Use an acetone-free nail polish remover.</h3>

<p>It takes longer to remove the polish but it&#8217;s kinder to your nails and won&#8217;t dry them out too much.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Use lint-free wipes instead of cotton balls to remove nail polish.</h3>

<p>Because no one wants their pedi ruined by little stringy bits of cotton that stick to your toes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Cut your toenails straight across to avoid ingrown nails.</h3>

<p>You should also avoid cutting toenails too short if you have ingrowing toenails.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Don&#8217;t cut your cuticles!</h3>

<p>Just push them back gently with a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick.</p>

<p>You can always soften them up a little with a cuticle softener if you need to.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Apply thin coats of polish.</h3>

<p>When painting your nails, use thin coats of polish and allow each coat to dry completely before adding the next one.</p>

<p>This will help avoid smudging and give you a professional-looking opaque finish.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">6. Don&#8217;t skip the topcoat!</h3>

<p>This will help protect your nail color and make it last longer.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What are the best pedicure products?</h2>

<p>You don&#8217;t need to spend a fortune to give yourself a pedicure at home.</p>

<p>Here are some of my favorite pedicure products that you might like to try out:</p>

<p><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Teals-Solution-Eucalyptus-Lavender/dp/B00HMSU4ZE?&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=amazonjoe0d-20&amp;linkId=519a84c3b36fc8bff2ef7c23b28c5132&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dr Teals Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution</a> &#8211; This stuff is amazing for getting rid of all those aches and pains.</p>

<p>It comes in 2 scents: Eucalyptus and Spearmint or Lavender.</p>

<p>You can also use it in the bath to relax tired muscles or speed up recovery time after a workout.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pedicure bowl ideas</h2>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a foot spa at home, here are some ideas for what you can use to do a DIY pedicure:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>A plastic laundry basket/carrier</li><li>A large plastic container (like a toy bin) or storage box</li><li>An ice bucket</li><li>A washing-up bowl</li></ul>

<p>I&#8217;m sure you can find something to use if you don&#8217;t have a big enough bowl!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to give yourself a pedicure for guys?</h2>

<p>Guys can follow the same basic steps to give themselves a pedicure that is outlined above.</p>

<p>You won&#8217;t need to remove nail polish, so begin with a soak (step 2 above) and finish with step 6 (buffing the nail plates).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How long are you supposed to soak your feet for a pedicure?</h2>

<p>Most salons will tell you to soak your feet for 5-10 minutes, I find that anything longer than that and my feet start to feel wrinkly.</p>

<p>So, 5 minutes is usually sufficient.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How long should you wait to put shoes on after a pedicure?</h2>

<p>I&#8217;d recommend waiting at least an hour to avoid smudging if you used regular nail polish.</p>

<p>If you used gel polish you should be good to go after 10 minutes or so.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Let&#8217;s wrap this up:</h2>

<p>In this article, we have talked about the best ways to give yourself a pedicure at home.</p>

<p>We have also listed some of our favorite pedicure products.</p>

<p>I hope that you found this post on how to give yourself a pedicure useful.</p>

<p>Follow these tips and you&#8217;ll be feeling relaxed and refreshed in no time!</p>

<p>How often should you get a pedicure?</p>

<p>It depends.</p>

<p>The condition of your feet, what type of pedicure you want, and how often you want to change your toe polish will all factor in.</p>

<p>In this post, we&#8217;re going to answer all of your burning questions about how often you should get a pedicure done.</p>

<p>So if you wanna know how long to wait between treatments, or what signs to look out for that is time to book your next appointment, read on.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should you get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>According to Mavala&#8217;s nail care expert<a href="https://mavalablog.co.uk/ready-pedi-go/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Lynne Gray</a>, the average woman should get a pedicure every 3-4 weeks.</p>

<p>If your pedicure includes soaking, exfoliating, and the treatment of hard dry, or cracked skin then once-a-month pedicures are a good rule of thumb.</p>

<p>However, if you just want a polish change, you can certainly go more frequently.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Can you get your toes done too often?</strong></h3>

<p>Yes, it is possible to overdo it, says Gray.</p>

<p>Negative effects include &#8220;over-exfoliation&#8221; and overworking of the cuticles.</p>

<p>As Elegant Touch nail technician<a href="https://www.instagram.com/sarasordillo/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Sara Sordillo</a> explains:</p>

<p>&#8220;Removing dead skin is great for the feet and skin regeneration but too often could result in healthy living skin being accidentally removed as well. Breaks of around 3-4 weeks allow enough time to avoid this as the next layer of dead skin will have developed.&#8221;</p>

<p>Another thing to consider is the overall health of your toenails, which can become weak, dry, and brittle from too much polishing and removal.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long should you wait between pedicures?</strong></h2>

<p>As a minimum, you should wait at least 3 weeks between pedicure appointments.</p>

<p>By this time, a new layer of hard skin will have formed.</p>

<p>Waiting 3 to 4 weeks also gives toenails enough time to recover and rehydrate after the last pedicure session.</p>

<p>If you want to change your nail polish more frequently than that, experts recommend getting a basic polish change without the exfoliating scrub.</p>

<p>You can ask your pedicurist to just do a quick file, cuticle treatment, and polish change.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Is it ok to get a pedicure every 2 weeks?</strong></h2>

<p>The main concern with getting a pedicure every 2 weeks is that you could be exfoliating the skin on your feet too much.</p>

<p>You don&#8217;t want to be removing the live skin, only dead cells, which need 3 to 4 weeks to regenerate.</p>

<p>You can get a pedicure that involves massage, moisturizing treatments, and polish changes as often as you like.</p>

<p>But you should avoid the scrubbing part if you want to get a fortnightly pedi.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Is it ok to get a pedicure every week?</strong></h2>

<p>Most podiatrists and pedicurists agree that a once-a-week pedicure is too much.</p>

<p>A weekly pedicure really isn&#8217;t necessary unless you chipped your toe polish.</p>

<p>As we&#8217;ve suggested, a purely cosmetic file and polish are fine to have every week or two.</p>

<p>But you should allow 3 to 4 weeks between full pedicures unless you have a medical condition that requires more frequent treatment.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should you get a pedicure for healthy feet?</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/How-often-should-you-get-a-pedicure-2.jpg" alt="How often should you get a pedicure 2 https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12985" width="526" height="526" title="How Often Should You Get a Pedicure? Ultimate Guide 11" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/How-often-should-you-get-a-pedicure-2.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/How-often-should-you-get-a-pedicure-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/How-often-should-you-get-a-pedicure-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/How-often-should-you-get-a-pedicure-2-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px" /></figure>

<p>If you have healthy feet and you want to keep them that way, a monthly pedicure will do the trick.</p>

<p>A full pedicure every 3 to 4 weeks will help to remove dead skin cells, massage the muscles, and keep your toenails looking trim and neat.</p>

<p>If you have dry, hard skin, calluses, ingrown toenails, verrucas, or fungal infections, you may need to go more often.</p>

<p>Your podiatrist or nail technician may recommend more or less frequent visits depending on the condition of your feet and your nail growth rate.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should a diabetic get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>If you have diabetes, you should get a medical pedicure to reduce the risks of foot problems like infections, ulcers, and gangrene.</p>

<p>A medical pedicure is a special type of pedicure that&#8217;s conducted by a podiatrist or other medical professional.</p>

<p>Your podiatrist will assess the condition of your feet and recommend the best course of treatment, which may involve more or less frequent pedicures.</p>

<p>Once a month is a good rule of thumb, but you may need to go more or less often depending on your individual circumstances.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should I get a pedicure to avoid ingrown toenails?</strong></h2>

<p>Too many pedicures can increase the risk of ingrown toenails, so it&#8217;s important to strike a balance.</p>

<p>If you have a history of ingrown toenails, you should probably avoid getting pedicures too often.</p>

<p>Every 4 to 6 weeks should be fine to keep your toes in good shape.</p>

<p>If you do get pedicures more regularly, make sure to tell your nail technician not to cut your toenails too short.</p>

<p>Also, ask them to gently round the edges when filing.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should you get a pedicure in summer?</strong></h2>

<p>Summer is high pedicure season for sure.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/summer-pedicure.jpg" alt="summer pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12984" width="581" height="581" title="How Often Should You Get a Pedicure? Ultimate Guide 12" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/summer-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/summer-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/summer-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/summer-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 581px) 100vw, 581px" /></figure>

<p>If you want to keep your toenails looking amazing in those open-toed shoes and sandals, you&#8217;ll need a regular pedicure during the summer months.</p>

<p>So how often should you go?</p>

<p>Well, how often you go is actually less important than what you have done while you&#8217;re there.</p>

<p>If you want a polish change only, the most frequently you should visit the salon is every 2 weeks.</p>

<p>But you may be able to go up to 4 weeks in between summer pedicures, especially if you have gel polish.</p>

<p>Of course, how often you need to visit the nail salon will depend on your lifestyle and how quickly your toenails grow.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re a runner or you play sports, you may need to go more often to keep your feet looking and feeling their best.</p>

<p>You should avoid too many pedicures involving a foot scrub in the summer as over-exfoliation is bad for your feet.</p>

<p>Ask your pedicurist to skip the scrub if you don&#8217;t feel it&#8217;s needed.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should you get a pedicure in winter?</strong></h2>

<p>During the winter months, you can actually space out your pedicures a bit more.</p>

<p>Every 4 to 6 weeks should be fine as long as you&#8217;re not wearing open-toed shoes or sandals.</p>

<p>If you are, you may need to visit the nail salon more frequently to touch up your polish.</p>

<p>But generally, you won&#8217;t need to go as often during the winter because your feet will be covered up most of the time.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long is a pedicure supposed to last?</strong></h2>

<p>A pedicure is supposed to last between 2 and 6 weeks.</p>

<p>How long yours lasts will depend on the condition of your feet, your lifestyle, and how fast your nails grow.</p>

<p>You should allow at least 3 weeks in between pedicures for optimum foot health.</p>

<p>The type of polish you choose can also affect how long your pedicure lasts.</p>

<p>Gel polish, for example, can last up to 4 weeks.</p>

<p>Regular nail polish will usually only last 1 to 3 weeks before it starts to chip and look bad.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How do I know when I need a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>So, what are the signs that you should book a pedicure?</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/how-to-tell-pedicure.jpg" alt="how to tell pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12986" width="498" height="498" title="How Often Should You Get a Pedicure? Ultimate Guide 13" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/how-to-tell-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/how-to-tell-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/how-to-tell-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/how-to-tell-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px" /></figure>

<p>Well, first of all, take a look at your toenails.</p>

<p>If they&#8217;re starting to look yellow, cracked, or otherwise unappealing, it&#8217;s probably time for a touch-up.</p>

<p>Also, pay attention to the skin on your feet.</p>

<p>If you have dry, cracked heels, a pedicure can help.</p>

<p>Here are some tell-tale signs to look out for that indicate you need a pedicure:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Your toenails are starting to look ragged or overgrown.</li></ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Your nail polish is chipped and looks bad.</li></ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>You have dry, cracked heels.</li></ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>You&#8217;re starting to get calluses on your feet.</li></ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Your feet feel tired and uncomfortable.</li></ul>

<p>If any of the above applies, it&#8217;s time to get those feet pampered.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Are pedicures good for your feet?</strong></h2>

<p>Absolutely. Pedicures soften and smooth out the skin, hydrate the feet and improve circulation.</p>

<p>They also keep toenails trimmed and looking their best.</p>

<p>But, as we mentioned before, it&#8217;s important not to overdo it.</p>

<p>Too many pedicures can actually damage the feet by over-exfoliating or causing ingrown toenails.</p>

<p>As long as you strike a balance, though, pedicures can be a great way to pamper your feet and keep them healthy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long does a normal pedicure last?</strong></h2>

<p>A typical pedicure lasts between 30 and 60 minutes.</p>

<p>The exact length of time will depend on the type of pedicure you&#8217;re getting and the condition of your feet.</p>

<p>For example, if you&#8217;re getting a basic polish change, it may only take 30 minutes.</p>

<p>But if you&#8217;re getting a more involved pedicure that includes a foot soak, scrub, and massage, it could take up to an hour.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Should I cut my toenails before a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>No, you don&#8217;t need to cut your toenails before a pedicure.</p>

<p>In fact, most nail salons will do it for you as part of the pedicure service.</p>

<p>If you do want to cut your own nails beforehand, just make sure you don&#8217;t cut them too short.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Final thoughts:</strong></h2>

<p>So, how often should you get a pedicure?</p>

<p>It really depends on your lifestyle and how quickly your toenails grow.</p>

<p>You should avoid too many pedicures involving a foot scrub in any season as over-exfoliation is bad for your feet.</p>

<p>Every 4 to 6 weeks should be fine as long as you have healthy feet.</p>

<p>And every 2 weeks is cool if you just want to change the color of your toenails.</p>

<p>I hope you enjoyed this article and that it helped you understand how often to get pedicures.</p>

<p>There are so many different types of pedicures you could get.</p>

<p>But what are all the types of pedicures and which one is best for you?</p>

<p>This post is going to help you figure that out.</p>

<p>We&#8217;ll go through 22 different types of pedicures, explaining what each one is and what benefits they offer.</p>

<p>By the end of this post, you&#8217;ll know exactly which type of pedicure you should book the next time you&#8217;re at the salon!</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s get started.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How many types of pedicures are there?</h2>

<p>There are 22 main types of pedicures.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s the full list of 22 types of pedicures:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Basic Pedicure</li><li>Deluxe (spa) Pedicure</li><li>Shanghai Pedicure</li><li>Dry/waterless Pedicure</li><li>Parrafin Pedicure</li><li>Hot stone Pedicure</li><li>French Pedicure</li><li>Mini Pedicure</li><li>Athletic Pedicure</li><li>Chocolate Pedicure</li><li>Ice-cream Pedicure</li><li>Margarita Pedicure</li><li>Champagne / wine Pedicure</li><li>Gel Pedicure</li><li>Fish Pedicure</li><li>Salt Pedicure</li><li>Rose Pedicure</li><li>Milk and honey Pedicure</li><li>Men’s Pedicure</li><li>Collagen Pedicure</li><li>Jelly Pedicure</li><li>Medical Pedicure</li></ul>

<p>Some of these types of pedicures offer a fun and unique experience.</p>

<p>Others are based around a specific type of nail polish.</p>

<p>And some of them offer specific health or medical benefits, so it&#8217;s important to choose the right one for you.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">7 key benefits of pedicures</h2>

<p>Depending on the type of pedicure you get, there are a number of different benefits on offer.</p>

<p>Here are some of the main benefits you can expect:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Relaxation</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/relaxing-pedicure.jpg" alt="relaxing pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12977" width="620" height="620" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 14" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/relaxing-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/relaxing-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/relaxing-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/relaxing-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></figure>

<p>One of the main reasons people get pedicures is to relax.</p>

<p>This is especially true for deluxe and spa pedicures, which often include a massage as well as a nail treatment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Improved Circulation</h3>

<p>Pedicures can also help to improve circulation in your feet.</p>

<p>This is because they often involve massaging the feet and lower legs, which encourages blood flow.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Softer, smoother skin</h3>

<p>Another benefit of pedicures is that they remove calluses and dead skin. This leaves your feet feeling softer and smoother.</p>

<p>This is because they usually involve exfoliation, which gets rid of dead skin cells.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Healthier nails</h3>

<p>Pedicures can also help to keep your nails healthy and help prevent ingrowing toenails.</p>

<p>This is because they often involve trimming and filing the nails.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Fungus prevention</h3>

<p>Another benefit of pedicures is that they can help to prevent fungal infections.</p>

<p>This is because the procedure involves soaking the feet in treated water, which helps to kill any bacteria or fungus.</p>

<p>Pedicurists can often detect the start of a fungal infection and advise you to treat it early.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">6. Improves sleep quality</h3>

<p>The relaxing effects of a pedicure can also help to improve your sleep quality.</p>

<p>This is because the massage can help relieve tension or stress in the feet and lower legs.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">7. Boosts confidence</h3>

<p>Finally, pedicures can also boost your confidence.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-toes-pedicure.jpg" alt="nail polish toes pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12978" width="515" height="515" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 15" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-toes-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-toes-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-toes-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-toes-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px" /></figure>

<p>This is because they make your feet look and feel good, which can make you feel good about yourself.</p>

<p>Now that you know the benefits of pedicures, let&#8217;s take a look at the different types on offer.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">22 pedicure types explained</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Basic Pedicure</h3>

<p>A basic pedicure is a simple no-frills nail treatment.</p>

<p>It takes around 35 minutes and usually includes the following steps:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Brief foot soak (and sometimes a quick massage or exfoliating scrub)</li><li>Trimming and filing the nails</li><li>Pushing cuticles back</li><li>Removing any dead skin</li><li>Applying toenail polish.</li></ul>

<p>This is the most basic type of pedicure and is often the cheapest option.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Deluxe (spa) Pedicure</h3>

<p>A deluxe or spa pedicure is a more luxurious version of a basic pedicure.</p>

<p>It includes the basic steps listed above, but may also include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>A longer foot soak with fancy products</li><li>A more thorough/longer massage or scrub</li><li>The use of more expensive and better-smelling products</li><li>A moisturizing treatment like a seaweed wrap or hot wax</li></ul>

<p>This type of pedicure is often more expensive than a basic pedicure but can offer a more relaxing and luxurious experience.</p>

<p>A luxury pedicure typically takes between 60 and 90 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Shanghai Pedicure</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Shanghai-Pedicure.jpg" alt="Shanghai Pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12969" width="463" height="463" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 16" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Shanghai-Pedicure.jpg 700w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Shanghai-Pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Shanghai-Pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px" /></figure>

<p>The Shanghai pedicure is certainly not for the fainthearted!</p>

<p>Originating in china, this type of treatment uses sharp scalpel blades to remove dead skin and calluses from the feet.</p>

<p>You should always get this 50-minute treatment done by a highly trained professional.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Dry/waterless Pedicure</h3>

<p>A dry or waterless pedicure is a type of foot treatment that doesn&#8217;t involve soaking the feet in water.</p>

<p>Instead, products are applied directly to dry feet.</p>

<p>Some people prefer dry pedicures because they are eco-friendly and hygienic.</p>

<p> (no soaking your feet in a tub that&#8217;s been used by many others).</p>

<p>As with most of the treatments in this list, the basic steps are the same (trimming, filing, polishing, etc.</p>

<p>However, since the feet have not been softened by water, an electric file will remove dry and dead skin.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Parrafin Pedicure</h3>

<p>In a paraffin pedicure, you get all the usual steps, plus warm wax applied to the feet and legs.</p>

<p>Your legs will either be dipped or rubbed in wax, then wrapped up in plastic or a towel.</p>

<p>This is very moisturizing and it helps relieve aches and pains.</p>

<p>Once the wax is cool, the pedicurist will wipe it off with soft tissue.</p>

<p>If you have arthritis or poor circulation, this is a great one to go for.</p>

<p>Paraffin treatments typically last for 60 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hot stone Pedicure</h3>

<p>A hot stone pedicure is one where, you guessed it, warm stones are used to massage the feet.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hot-stone-pedicure.jpg" alt="hot stone pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12979" width="570" height="570" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 17" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hot-stone-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hot-stone-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hot-stone-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hot-stone-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px" /></figure>

<p>The Stones are usually made of basalt, a type of rock that retains heat well.</p>

<p>They are placed on key points on the feet and used to relax the muscles.</p>

<p>This is a very relaxing treatment that&#8217;s great for those who have trouble sleeping.</p>

<p>The stones will be in place for 10 to 30 minutes and a full treatment usually lasts for an hour.</p>

<p>You will get your toenails trimmed, filed, and polished after the stone part.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">French Pedicure</h3>

<p>A french pedicure is a cosmetic pedicure that focuses on painting your toenails in a french manicure style.</p>

<p>After soaking and nail prep steps have been followed, your toenails will be painted in the French style.</p>

<p>This will be a natural pink or nude color and the tips will be white.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a very natural and classic style.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Mini Pedicure</h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re short on time, you can always get a mini pedicure.</p>

<p>This is a basic treatment that includes:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Soaking the feet</li><li>Trimming and filing the nails</li><li>Pushing back the cuticles</li><li>Applying toenail polish</li></ul>

<p>There is no foot massage, scrub, or removal of dead skin with this type of treatment.</p>

<p>The main focus is on getting your toenails to look pretty.</p>

<p>A mini pedicure (aka Express pedicure) usually takes around 20 minutes and is cheaper than a full pedicure.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Athletic Pedicure</h3>

<p>Runners and athletes often get what&#8217;s called an Athletic Pedicure.</p>

<p>This is a sports pedicure that involves intense massage.</p>

<p>The main focus of this type of treatment is on getting rid of tension, relieving pressure points, and improving circulation in the feet.</p>

<p>No special attention is given to the toenails in this treatment.</p>

<p>So no filing, shaping, or polish is done.</p>

<p>You should allow about an hour for this kind of procedure.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Chocolate Pedicure</h3>

<p>Fancy dipping your feet into warm, gooey chocolate?</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/chocolate-pedicure.jpg" alt="chocolate pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12980" width="448" height="448" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 18" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/chocolate-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/chocolate-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/chocolate-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/chocolate-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px" /></figure>

<p>Then this type of pedicure is for you!</p>

<p>A chocolate pedicure involves soaking your feet in a chocolate foot bath.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a fun experience that&#8217;s great to do with friends.</p>

<p>Here are the steps:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Feet are soaked in warm chocolate</li><li>Then scrubbed clean with a chocolate scrub</li><li>Cocoa butter is applied to the bottom of the legs and feet</li><li>Toenails are prepped and painted</li></ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ice-cream Pedicure</h3>

<p>This type of pedicure is not exactly what it sounds like.</p>

<p>Although being handed a bowl of ice-cream mid pedicure sounds amazing!</p>

<p>The name actually comes from the bath bomb that&#8217;s used.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s shaped like a scoop of ice cream and comes in yummy scents like strawberry and vanilla.</p>

<p>The ice cream scoops contain oils like jojoba or coconut which are known for their intense moisturizing properties.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Margarita Pedicure</h3>

<p>Salt scrub, fresh lime juice, and massage oil are used in this type of pedicure &#8211; hence the name.</p>

<p>Slices of lime may also be used as exfoliating tools.</p>

<p>The treatment also includes margarita-scented sugar scrub and a citrous moisturizer.</p>

<p>You also get the usual toenail care and polish with a margarita manicure.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Champagne / Wine Pedicure</h3>

<p>With a champagne or wine manicure, the feet are soaked in either wine or champagne instead of water.</p>

<p>Wine pedicures are great for those looking for anti-aging benefits along with their pedicure.</p>

<p>Red wine is typically used in this type of pedicure because of its anti-oxidant and inflammatory properties.</p>

<p>Red wine or champagne pedicures are also good for dry or cracked skin on the heels and calluses.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gel Pedicure</h3>

<p>A gel pedicure has the usual soak and scrub and ends with gel polish being applied.</p>

<p>Gel polish is a type of nail polish that&#8217;s cured under UV light.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/gel-pedicure.jpg" alt="gel pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12971" width="580" height="580" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 19" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/gel-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/gel-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/gel-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/gel-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px" /></figure>

<p>This makes the manicure last much longer &#8211; up to 4 weeks!</p>

<p>The gel pedicure process is as follows:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Soak and scrub</li><li>Nails are trimmed and filed</li><li>Cuticles are pushed back</li><li>A base coat is applied</li><li>Two coats of color are applied</li><li>A top coat is applied</li><li>Nails are cured under UV light</li></ul>

<p>The gel pedicure process takes a little longer than a regular pedicure &#8211; about 45 minutes to an hour.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Fish Pedicure</h3>

<p>A fish pedicure is exactly what it sounds like &#8211; tiny little fish nibbling at your feet!</p>

<p>This type of pedicure is said to be beneficial for the skin.</p>

<p>The fish used are usually Garra rufa fish, also known as &#8220;doctor fish&#8221;.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/fish-pedicure.jpg" alt="fish pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12973" width="468" height="432" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 20" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/fish-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/fish-pedicure-300x278.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/fish-pedicure-768x711.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px" /></figure>

<p>These fish eat dead skin cells, which leaves the feet feeling softer and smoother.</p>

<p>The fish pedicure process is as follows:</p>

<p>Feet are soaked in a tank of warm water containing fish.</p>

<p>The fish start nibbling at the dead skin cells on the feet.</p>

<p>After 15-20 minutes, the fish are removed and the feet are scrubbed clean.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Salt Pedicure</h3>

<p>Salt has lots of healing properties, which is why it&#8217;s often used in spa treatments.</p>

<p>A salt pedicure usually starts with a foot soak in warm, salty water.</p>

<p>Epsom salt, sea salt or Himalayan salt is usually used.</p>

<p>The feet are then scrubbed with a salt scrub to get rid of dead skin cells.</p>

<p>After the scrub, the feet are rinsed and moisturizing cream is applied.</p>

<p>The benefits of a salt pedicure include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>improved circulation</li><li>relief of muscle pain</li><li>reduced inflammation</li><li>hydration</li></ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rose Pedicure</h3>

<p>If you love the smell of roses, then you&#8217;ll love this type of pedicure.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Mini-Pedicure.jpg" alt="Mini Pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12970" width="607" height="607" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 21" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Mini-Pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Mini-Pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Mini-Pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Mini-Pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 607px) 100vw, 607px" /></figure>

<p>A rose pedicure starts with a foot soak in warm water with rose petals.</p>

<p>The feet are then scrubbed with a sugar or salt scrub infused with rose oil.</p>

<p>Rose petal extract is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant.</p>

<p>The scent of roses is also scientifically proven to reduce stress levels and help with sleep.</p>

<p>After the scrub, the feet are rinsed and a hydrating rose-scented product is applied.</p>

<p>The benefits of a rose pedicure include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>relaxation</li><li>reduced stress</li><li>hydration</li><li>improved sleep</li></ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Milk and honey Pedicure</h3>

<p>Milk and honey are both great for the skin.</p>

<p>Honey is a natural humectant, which means it helps the skin retain moisture.</p>

<p>Milk contains lactic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that has anti-aging effects.</p>

<p>A milk and honey pedicure starts with a foot soak in milk.</p>

<p>The feet are then exfoliated with a sugar scrub.</p>

<p>After the scrub, the feet are rinsed and a hydrating milk and honey mask is applied.</p>

<p>The benefits of a milk and honey pedicure include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>hydration</li><li>anti-aging</li><li>soothes infections</li></ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Men’s Pedicure</h3>

<p>A men&#8217;s pedicure is basically the same as a regular pedicure, but with some slight variations.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/mens-pedicure.jpg" alt="mens pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12975" width="620" height="620" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 22" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/mens-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/mens-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/mens-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/mens-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></figure>

<p>The products used will typically be ones with more masculine scents like musk or cedar.</p>

<p>And instead of the toenails being polished, they are buffed and smoothed to improve their appearance.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Collagen Pedicure</h3>

<p>Collagen is a protein that&#8217;s found in the skin, and it&#8217;s responsible for its elasticity.</p>

<p>As we age, our body produces less collagen, which leads to dryness, wrinkles, and sagging skin.</p>

<p>A collagen pedicure can have anti-aging effects and help tighten everything up a little.</p>

<p>In this type of pedicure, a collagen gel is applied and the feet are left in &#8220;collagen socks&#8221; for 15 minutes.</p>

<p>Once complete, the skin will be silky and smooth and wrinkles and lines will be diminished.</p>

<p>The treatment concludes with a massage and a hot towel wrap.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Jelly Pedicure</h3>

<p>A jelly pedicure is a new type of pedicure that&#8217;s becoming increasingly popular.</p>

<p>In this type of pedicure, instead of using water, the feet are soaked in a nourishing jelly that often contains natural ingredients.</p>

<p>Your jelly may contain grapeseed, avocado, or jojoba seed oil, aloe vera extract, or essential oils like rose or lavender.</p>

<p>There will also be plant enzymes in the mixture (from papaya or pineapple) which help to break down dead skin cells.</p>

<p>This type of treatment is great for getting a little relief from eczema and psoriasis.</p>

<p>It also boosts circulation.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Medical Pedicure</h3>

<p>A medical pedicure is done by a podiatrist or other medical professional.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s usually recommended for people with diabetes or other foot problems.</p>

<p>In this type of pedicure, the aim is to improve the overall health of the feet.</p>

<p>This means that the focus will be on things like calluses, corns, ingrown toenails, and fungal infections.</p>

<p>The treatment will be tailored specifically to the needs of the individual.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which type of pedicure is best?</h2>

<p>This depends on your individual needs and preferences.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for massage and relaxation, then a luxury or a rose pedicure would be a good choice.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re wanting something more therapeutic, then a medical pedicure might be better.</p>

<p>And if you&#8217;re just looking to improve the appearance of your feet, then any type of pedicure will do the trick.</p>

<p>Just remember to take good care of your feet in between pedicures!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What’s the difference between a pedicure and a deluxe pedicure?</h2>

<p>The main difference between a regular pedicure and a deluxe pedicure is the length of time.</p>

<p>A regular pedicure will usually take around 30 to 45 minutes, while a deluxe pedicure can last up to an hour and a half.</p>

<p>In a deluxe pedicure, there is usually more time for soaking, massage, wraps, etc.</p>

<p>The type of products used may be nicer with a deluxe pedicure as well.</p>

<p>A deluxe pedicure is often seen as a more indulgent experience.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s the perfect way to relax and pamper yourself!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do gel pedicures last longer?</h2>

<p>Gel polish is used in a gel pedicure and this means that your toenail polish will last longer and be less likely to chip.</p>

<p>I usually get around a month out of a gel pedicure.</p>

<p>The only downside to gel pedicures is that they are much harder to remove than regular nail polish.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is a collagen pedicure?</h2>

<p>A collagen pedicure is a type of pedicure that uses products containing collagen.</p>

<p>Collagen is great for keeping the skin looking young and tight.</p>

<p>It can also help to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.</p>

<p>A collagen pedicure often uses a collagen gel which is applied to the feet, which are then placed in socks for 15 minutes.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Types of nail polish for pedicures</h2>

<p>Most pedicures include the regular polish, but there are other options as well.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-pedicured.jpg" alt="nail polish pedicured https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12976" width="383" height="383" title="Discover the Best Pedicure for Your Feet: 22 Types Explained 23" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-pedicured.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-pedicured-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-pedicured-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/nail-polish-pedicured-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px" /></figure>

<p>Gel polish is a type of nail polish that is cured under UV light.</p>

<p>This means that it lasts much longer than regular polish and is less likely to chip.</p>

<p>Shellac is another type of long-lasting nail polish that can be used for pedicures.</p>

<p>You could also have toenail enhancements made from hard gel or acrylic.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s the full list of options:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>basic polish</li><li>shellac</li><li>gel polish</li><li>hard gel</li><li>acrylic</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best type of pedicure for dry cracked feet</h2>

<p>If your feet are dry and cracked, then you might want to try a hydrating pedicure.</p>

<p>This type of pedicure uses products that are designed to hydrate and nourish the skin.</p>

<p>A red wine or champagne pedicure may be a good option for you, or you could also go for a luxury spa pedicure.</p>

<p>In a jelly pedicure, your feet will be soaked in a mixture of oils and extracts, which will help to soften the skin.</p>

<p>Talk to your pedicurist and see which option they recommend.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best type of pedicure for callused feet</h2>

<p>If your feet are callused, most pedicures will help to improve the appearance and feel of your feet.</p>

<p>A luxury or spa pedicure will often include a thorough foot scrub, which will help to remove dead skin cells.</p>

<p>If you have particularly callused feet, you might want to try a paraffin pedicure.</p>

<p>In this type of pedicure, your feet are dipped in melted wax, it&#8217;s very relaxing.</p>

<p>Depending on how bad they are, you may want to look into the medical pedicure option too.</p>

<p>There are many different types of pedicures to choose from, and the best one for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences.</p>

<p>I hope that this article has helped you to understand the different types of pedicures available, and which one might be best for you.</p>

<p>What is a pedicure and who should get them?</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re wondering how this treatment goes down in the salon, and what steps are involved this post is for you.</p>

<p>Right now we&#8217;re going to dip our (soon-to-be perfectly pampered) toes into the world of pedicures.</p>

<p>We&#8217;ll answer all of your burning questions, like what to expect, what to wear, and what to do before your first appointment.</p>

<p>Ready to become a pedicure pro?</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s do this.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>A pedicure is a relaxing cosmetic treatment for your feet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The aim is to remove dead skin, moisturize the feet and approve the appearance of your toenails.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pedicures make the skin on your feet feel smooth and soft and keep your toenails nicely trimmed and shaped.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-file-hard-kin-from-feet.jpg" alt="remove file hard kin from feet https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12936" width="547" height="547" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 24" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-file-hard-kin-from-feet.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-file-hard-kin-from-feet-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-file-hard-kin-from-feet-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-file-hard-kin-from-feet-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px" /></figure>

<p>Both men and women can get pedicures, though the treatments differ slightly.</p>

<p>The main difference is that women’s pedicures usually include toenail polish and men’s don’t.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What do they do during a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>During a pedicure, they sit you in a special chair where they soak your feet and exfoliate the skin.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-chair.jpg" alt="pedicure chair https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12937" width="547" height="547" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 25" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-chair.jpg 897w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-chair-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-chair-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-chair-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px" /></figure>

<p>If needed, dead skin and calluses are removed using a small rough tool called a pumice stone.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a lot of hard skin, then the pedicurist will use a foot scrub.</p>

<p>Once your feet are scrubbed and soaked, your toenails are clipped (if needed).</p>

<p>Then cuticles are removed or pushed back using a cuticle pusher.</p>

<p>Next, toenails are filed into shape using a handheld nail file.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-file-toe-nails.jpg" alt="pedicure file toe nails https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12938" width="563" height="563" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 26" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-file-toe-nails.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-file-toe-nails-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-file-toe-nails-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pedicure-file-toe-nails-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 563px) 100vw, 563px" /></figure>

<p>Toenails are then buffed (to remove any ridges) until smooth and shiny.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want polish, then your treatment will end here.</p>

<p>If you do want polish, basecoat, 2 coats of color and a topcoat will be applied.</p>

<p>Once the polish is dry, you&#8217;re done!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why do we need a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>There are 3 main reasons that people need or want pedicures:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>To maintain good foot hygiene</li><li>Managing a medical condition</li><li>Cosmetic reasons</li></ol>

<p>Some people get pedicures simply because it&#8217;s hygienic.</p>

<p>Keeping your feet clean is important for preventing infections.</p>

<p>Other people get pedicures because they have a medical condition that requires attention to their feet.</p>

<p>Medical pedicures (done by podiatrists) focus less on aesthetics and more on overall foot health.</p>

<p>They can be useful for athletes, runners, or those with a condition like diabetes or arthritis.</p>

<p>For example, diabetics often need regular pedicures to prevent foot ulcers from forming.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The most common reason people get pedicures, however, is for cosmetic reasons.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What does a pedicure do for your feet?</strong></h2>

<p>A pedicure can do wonders for tired feet!</p>

<p>Massage and exfoliation can help to improve circulation and relieve any aches and pains.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massage-feet-and-legs-for-good-circulation.jpg" alt="massage feet and legs for good circulation https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12939" width="585" height="585" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 27" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massage-feet-and-legs-for-good-circulation.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massage-feet-and-legs-for-good-circulation-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massage-feet-and-legs-for-good-circulation-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massage-feet-and-legs-for-good-circulation-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /></figure>

<p>Good foot hygiene can also help prevent foot problems from developing.</p>

<p>For example, regular pedicures can help to prevent ingrowing toenails and fungal infections.</p>

<p>Your feet will also feel softer and smoother after the dead skin is removed.</p>

<p>Your nails will look neater and more attractive after they&#8217;ve been trimmed, shaped, and buffed.</p>

<p>And if you choose to get polish, your feet will look fabulous!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Pedicure steps</strong></h2>

<p>Ok, now that you know what a pedicure is and what the benefits are, let&#8217;s take a look at what actually happens during the treatment.</p>

<p>The exact steps might vary depending on what&#8217;s included in your treatment.</p>

<p>But as a general rule when getting a pedicure these are the steps:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Soaking the feet</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/soak-feet-for-pedicure.jpg" alt="soak feet for pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12940" width="539" height="539" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 28" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/soak-feet-for-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/soak-feet-for-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/soak-feet-for-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/soak-feet-for-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /></figure>

<p>The pedicurist will start by soaking your feet in a warm footbath.</p>

<p>This helps to soften the skin and make it easier to exfoliate.</p>

<p>It also helps to relieve those aches and pains.</p>

<p>Epsom salts are typically added to the water because of their anti-fungal benefits.</p>

<p>You can expect to sit with your feet in there and just relax for around 10 to 15 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Removing dead skin and calluses (exfoliating)</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-dead-skinf-from-feet-and-heels.jpg" alt="remove dead skinf from feet and heels https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12941" width="505" height="505" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 29" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-dead-skinf-from-feet-and-heels.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-dead-skinf-from-feet-and-heels-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-dead-skinf-from-feet-and-heels-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/remove-dead-skinf-from-feet-and-heels-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px" /></figure>

<p>Next, they will dry and exfoliate your feet.</p>

<p>The pedicurist will use a foot scrub, pumice stone (or both) to remove the dead and hard skin from your feet.</p>

<p>This leaves your feet feeling smooth and soft.</p>

<p>If you have calluses, the therapist will break them down to smooth out the skin.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. Clipping the toenails down to size</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/clipping-toe-nails.jpg" alt="clipping toe nails https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12942" width="505" height="505" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 30" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/clipping-toe-nails.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/clipping-toe-nails-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/clipping-toe-nails-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/clipping-toe-nails-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px" /></figure>

<p>The next step is toenail clipping.</p>

<p>This is done using a regular set of toenail clippers.</p>

<p>If your toenails aren&#8217;t that long, the nail technician may skip this step and just file them into a nice shape for you.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>4. Taking care of the cuticles</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/taking-care-of-cuticles.jpg" alt="taking care of cuticles https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12943" width="500" height="425" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 31" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/taking-care-of-cuticles-300x256.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/taking-care-of-cuticles-768x655.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></figure>

<p>The next step is to work on your cuticles.</p>

<p>Your cuticles will be nice and soft after the soak, so removal will be easier.</p>

<p>Using a cuticle pusher, your therapist will gently push back your cuticles.</p>

<p>They may also use a nipping tool to pinch off any dead skin.</p>

<p>If you happen to have very hard and stubborn cuticles a cuticle remover may be applied and left on for a few minutes to soften them even more.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>5. Filing and shaping the nails</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/file-toe-nails.jpg" alt="file toe nails https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12944" width="539" height="539" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 32" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/file-toe-nails.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/file-toe-nails-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/file-toe-nails-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/file-toe-nails-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /></figure>

<p>After that, they will file your toenails into the desired shape.</p>

<p>You may want a rounded or more sqaured off shape.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>6. Giving your feet a massage</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massaging-feet.jpg" alt="massaging feet https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12945" width="535" height="535" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 33" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massaging-feet.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massaging-feet-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massaging-feet-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/massaging-feet-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px" /></figure>

<p>Sore and tired feet will love this next step!</p>

<p>Using lotion or oil, the therapist will give you a relaxing foot massage.</p>

<p>This helps to improve circulation and can do wonders for any aches and pains.</p>

<p>Not all pedicures include a foot massage, but if it&#8217;s something that you&#8217;re interested in, be sure to ask before you book.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>7. Buffing the toenails</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/toe-nail-buffer.jpg" alt="toe nail buffer https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12947" width="531" height="531" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 34" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/toe-nail-buffer.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/toe-nail-buffer-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/toe-nail-buffer-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/toe-nail-buffer-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px" /></figure>

<p>For this next step, the therapist will use a buffer to buff the surface of your nails.</p>

<p>This helps to remove any ridges and it adds shine.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>8. Applying polish (and waiting for it to dry)</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/apply-polish-to-toes.jpg" alt="apply polish to toes https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12948" width="535" height="535" title="The Ultimate Pedicure Guide: What You Need to Know 35" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/apply-polish-to-toes.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/apply-polish-to-toes-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/apply-polish-to-toes-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/apply-polish-to-toes-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px" /></figure>

<p>Finally, it&#8217;s time for the polish!</p>

<p>Your therapist will apply a base coat, followed by 2 coats of your chosen color.</p>

<p>Then they&#8217;ll add a topcoat to help protect your nails and make them extra shiny.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need to wait for the polish to dry before you can put your shoes back on and walk out the door.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>9. Optional step &#8211; Applying nail art</strong></h3>

<p>If you want a design on your toes, make sure that you ask beforehand and allow extra time for your pedicure appointment.</p>

<p>Your nail technician will be able to paint on any design you like using regular polish or gel polish.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should you get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>It&#8217;s a good idea to get a pedicure every 4-6 weeks.</p>

<p>This helps to keep your feet looking nice and it also helps to prevent any problems such as ingrown toenails.</p>

<p>If you suffer from conditions such as athlete&#8217;s foot, you may need to go more often (to a medical professional) to help keep the infection at bay.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What should you not do during a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>There are a few things you should avoid doing during your pedicure.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a list of pedicure don&#8217;ts:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Don&#8217;t shave your legs right before your appointment. This can leave your skin susceptible to infection. 24 hours before is fine.</li><li>Do not allow unsanitized tools to be used on you.</li><li>Avoid using sharp tools to clean underneath toenails.</li><li>Don&#8217;t leave with wet/moist feet. This increases the chances of infection.</li><li>Do not eat during your pedicure. This is distracting and a little rude. A drink is fine.</li><li>Don&#8217;t talk on your phone the whole time. You could potentially disturb other customers who are looking for a relaxing experience.</li><li>Do not talk about how awful your feet look. This can be misconstrued as you looking down on the work that pedicurists do.</li><li>Don&#8217;t wear the wrong shoes. Remember, flip-flops are your friend.</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>When should you not get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>There are also a few times when you should steer clear of getting a pedicure.</p>

<p>If you have any cuts, scrapes, or open wounds on your feet, it&#8217;s best to wait until they&#8217;ve healed before going in for your appointment.</p>

<p>The same goes for if you have any contagious conditions such as athlete&#8217;s foot or toenail fungus.</p>

<p>If you have diabetes, it&#8217;s important to be extra careful when getting pedicures.</p>

<p>Make sure that your nail technician uses freshly sanitized tools and that they don&#8217;t cut your cuticles too deeply (which can lead to infection).</p>

<p>Ingrown toenails are also a pedicure no-no.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is a pedicure with gel?</strong></h2>

<p>A pedicure with gel is a pedicure that uses gel polish instead of regular polish.</p>

<p>Gel polish is a type of nail lacquer that is cured (set) using ultraviolet light.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s more expensive than regular polish, but it lasts much longer (up to 4 weeks on toes without chipping).</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a pedicure that will last, a gel pedicure is a good option.</p>

<p>But it is more difficult to remove gel nail polish because it has to be soaked in acetone.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is a pedicure for a man?</strong></h2>

<p>Men&#8217;s pedicures are pretty much the same as women&#8217;s, but there are a few key differences.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s see what you can expect from a man&#8217;s treatment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is included in a male pedicure?</strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Soaking</li><li>Exfoliation</li><li>Massage (if included in the service)</li><li>Trimming and filing toenails</li><li>Pushing back cuticles</li><li>Buffing the nail plates</li></ul>

<p>As you can see, a male pedicure generally includes all of the same steps as a regular pedicure, but there are a few things that may be different.</p>

<p>For example, rather than using floral scents, the products used during a male pedicure are often more masculine (think: musk, sandalwood, etc.).</p>

<p>Since most men don&#8217;t want the nail polish, the male pedicure typically ends after buffing the nails into a nice shine.</p>

<p>However, the option for toe polish is still available for those that want it.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Is it weird for a guy to get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>Not at all. In fact, more and more men are starting to get pedicures.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a great way to relax and take care of your feet at the same time.</p>

<p>The pedicure procedure is not all about pretty colors and shiny polish. It&#8217;s about foot health.</p>

<p>There are many therapeutic benefits to pedicures that both men and women can (and do) take advantage of.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Does a pedicure include polish?</strong></h2>

<p>This is a great question!</p>

<p>As a general rule, female pedicures do include polish application, men&#8217;s don&#8217;t.</p>

<p>But it&#8217;s really up to you whether you want to have polish or not, regardless of your gender.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Does a pedicure hurt?</strong></h2>

<p>If a pedicure is done well, you shouldn&#8217;t feel any pain.</p>

<p>However, if the cuticles are cut too deeply or the nails are trimmed too short, it can be uncomfortable.</p>

<p>Make sure to communicate with your nail technician if you&#8217;re feeling any pain so they can adjust their technique.</p>

<p>If you are experiencing a lot of pain during your pedicure, it&#8217;s possible that you have an issue that requires medical attention.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How to prepare for a pedicure</strong></h2>

<p>If you&#8217;re getting a professional pedicure, there&#8217;s not much preparation that needs to be done.</p>

<p>Just show up with clean feet (you can even clip your own nails and remove any polish beforehand if you want).</p>

<p>Shave your legs, but do it 24 hours before your appointment to decrease the risk of infection.</p>

<p>You may want to pick out some suitable clothes and shoes and think about what color and type of polish you want.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s pretty much it!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What to wear to a pedicure</strong></h2>

<p>Let&#8217;s talk bottom half first.</p>

<p>Your best bet is to head out to the salon wearing something loose.</p>

<p>The last thing you want is to be trying to take off your skinny jeans without wrecking your new toes!</p>

<p>A skirt, shorts, or loose-fitting pants are ideal.</p>

<p>I like to wear trousers with elasticated bottoms because they are easy to roll up and down and I can stretch the bottoms when I take them off.</p>

<p>Ok, now shoes.</p>

<p>This is a tough one.</p>

<p>I mean, flip-flops are ideal obviously.</p>

<p>But what if it&#8217;s winter?</p>

<p>Well, I would suggest wearing open-toed shoes with a bit of warmth to them or closed-toe shoes in a very soft material.</p>

<p>If you give yourself enough dry time you should be fine.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Can you get a pedicure with bad toenails?</strong></h2>

<p>If your toenails are yellow, brittle, or have fungus, you may be wondering if you can still get a pedicure.</p>

<p>The answer is: maybe.</p>

<p>It really depends on the salon and its policy.</p>

<p>Some salons will only do pedicures on healthy nails, while others are more lenient.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re not sure, it&#8217;s always best to call ahead and ask.</p>

<p>You can even send photos to check if they are ok with it.</p>

<p>If your toenails are in poor condition you should try getting a medical pedicure.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Do they cut your toenails when you get a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>Yes, cutting the toenails is part of the pedicure service.</p>

<p>Your nail technician will use a tool to gently trim away any excess length.</p>

<p>They will then file the nails down into your desired shape.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want them trimmed, that&#8217;s perfectly ok. Just ask.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why is it called a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>Why is a pedicure called a pedicure?</p>

<p>It&#8217;s a weird word, right?</p>

<p>It&#8217;s called a &#8220;pedicure&#8221; because &#8220;pedis&#8221; means &#8220;of the foot&#8221; in Latin, and &#8220;cura&#8221; means &#8220;care&#8221;.</p>

<p>So the Latin phrase translates as &#8220;care of the foot&#8221;.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final thoughts:</h2>

<p>Let&#8217;s have a quick recap, shall we?</p>

<p>A pedicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the feet and nails.</p>

<p>It involves trimming, filing, and polishing the nails; and often includes massage and exfoliation of the feet.</p>

<p>Pedicures are beneficial for both men and women, as they can help to improve foot health.</p>

<p>To prepare for a pedicure, make sure your feet are clean and dry, and if you want to, shave your legs 24 hours beforehand.</p>

<p>When choosing what to wear, opt for loose-fitting clothing and shoes that are easy to take off.</p>

<p>Most salons will require you to remove any existing nail polish before beginning the pedicure.</p>

<p>I hope that you enjoyed reading this article and that you now have a better understanding of what a pedicure is.</p>

<p>Until next time!</p>

<p>How long does a pedicure take?</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s find out!</p>

<p>In this post, we&#8217;re going to go over all the different types of pedicures.</p>

<p>First, we&#8217;ll talk about what to expect and how long each service typically lasts.</p>

<p>Then I&#8217;ll give you a few tips (like what to wear and how much to tip) so that you can feel super confident when you walk into the salon.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll also answer all of your burning questions, like how long a salon pedicure should last and how often you need to get one.</p>

<p>Sound good?</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s get started!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long does a pedicure take?</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/wall-clock-at-5-50-707582-edited.jpg" alt="wall clock at 5 50 707582 edited https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-5918" width="492" height="301" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 36" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/wall-clock-at-5-50-707582-edited.jpg 633w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/wall-clock-at-5-50-707582-edited-300x183.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px" /></figure>

<p>A pedicure usually takes between 35 and 90 minutes.</p>

<p>Treatment time depends on the type of service.</p>

<p>A basic pedicure (foot soak, toes filed and polished) will take around 35 minutes.</p>

<p>A luxury pedicure will take between 60 to 90 minutes depending on the length of the massage and polish type.</p>

<p>You should allow at least an hour for your treatment plus drying/waiting time.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What to expect when getting a pedicure</strong></h2>

<p>So how does it go down once you&#8217;re in the salon?</p>

<p>The first thing you&#8217;ll do is choose your color.</p>

<p>Then, the technician will have you sit in a chair and soak your feet in a warm, bubbly foot bath.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dry-after-pedicure.jpg" alt="dry after pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12923" width="515" height="515" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 37" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dry-after-pedicure.jpg 700w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dry-after-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dry-after-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px" /></figure>

<p>You may get a massage and/or a little foot scrub to remove hard skin if it&#8217;s included in the service.</p>

<p>After that, they&#8217;ll start working on your nails.</p>

<p>This usually includes filing, shaping, cuticle work, and applying polish.</p>

<p>There are many different types of pedicures and each one is a little different so let&#8217;s go into each type in a bit more detail.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Types of t</strong>reatment<strong>, the cost, and how long they take.</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/9-1.png" alt="9 1 https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12918" width="516" height="516" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 38" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/9-1.png 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/9-1-300x300.png 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/9-1-150x150.png 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/9-1-768x768.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px" /></figure>

<p>The time it takes to finish your pedicure depends on the type of service.</p>

<p>Here are the options, including the <a href="https://nailhow.com/how-much-does-a-pedicure-cost/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">average cost</a>, the time it takes to complete, and what to expect:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Basic pedi</strong></h3>

<p>A basic pedicure typically costs around $35 in a salon.</p>

<p>It includes a foot soak, toenail clipping/shaping, removal of dry skin and calluses using a pumice stone, and toenail polish.</p>

<p>A basic pedicure takes 35 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Deluxe pedi</strong></h3>

<p>The average cost for this type of pedi is $48.</p>

<p>The exact service varies but it will typically involve a lot of pampering.</p>

<p>This may include a foot massage, aromatherapy oils, and/or exfoliation treatment.</p>

<p>A deluxe pedicure takes 60 to 90 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Gel pedi</strong></h3>

<p>You can expect to pay around $45 for a gel pedi.</p>

<p>It includes all the same treatments and steps as the basic manicure, but longer-lasting gel nail polish is used.</p>

<p>A gel pedicure takes 45 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Shellac pedi</strong></h3>

<p>This service usually costs around $45.</p>

<p>Again, this involves the same steps as a basic manicure but with Shellac polish.</p>

<p>A shellac pedicure takes 45 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>French pedi</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-2.jpg" alt="french pedicure 2 https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12920" width="483" height="483" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 39" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-2.jpg 700w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-2-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px" /></figure>

<p>This is a $45 service that involves painting the toenails a natural pink color with white tips.</p>

<p>A french pedicure takes 45 to 55 minutes to complete.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Hot stone pedi</strong></h3>

<p>This type of pedicure will usually set you back around $65.</p>

<p>In addition to the normal foot care steps, this involves placing smooth, heated stones on the feet.</p>

<p>The stones are applied to the soles and topsides of the feet to stimulate muscles and pressure points.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hot-stone-pedicure.jpg" alt="hot stone pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12922" width="520" height="520" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 40" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hot-stone-pedicure.jpg 700w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hot-stone-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/hot-stone-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></figure>

<p>A hot stone pedicure takes 60 minutes to complete.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Paraffin wax pedi</strong></h3>

<p>A paraffin wax pedicure costs around $50.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s an intensely hydrating treatment that involves applying soft, warm wax to the legs and feet and a nice massage.</p>

<p>A paraffin wax pedicure usually takes 60 minutes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Kids pedi</strong></h3>

<p>If you want to treat an under 12 to a pedi, then you can expect to pay around $25.</p>

<p>This is for the basic pedicure service with polish.</p>

<p>A kid&#8217;s pedicure usually takes 30 minutes.</p>

<p>One major thing that can affect the time it takes to do your toes is nail art.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re getting anything beyond a solid color, expect it to take at least 15 minutes longer.</p>

<p>And if you&#8217;re getting something really intricate done, it could take an hour or more.</p>

<p>So be sure to factor that in if you&#8217;re on a time crunch!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What do you wear when getting a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long do I sit after a pedicure?</strong></h2>

<p>This is a great question.</p>

<p>The answer depends on the type of nail polish you&#8217;ve had.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dark-red-toe-nail-polish-pedicure.jpg" alt="dark red toe nail polish pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12927" width="447" height="447" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 41" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dark-red-toe-nail-polish-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dark-red-toe-nail-polish-pedicure-300x300.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dark-red-toe-nail-polish-pedicure-150x150.jpg 150w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/dark-red-toe-nail-polish-pedicure-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 447px) 100vw, 447px" /></figure>

<p>If you have normal nail polish I&#8217;d recommend waiting 15 to 20 minutes before leaving the salon.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve had gel or Shellac nail polish, I&#8217;d recommend waiting 5 to 10 minutes.</p>

<p>This is so that the nails have time to set properly and you don&#8217;t smudge them.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long does a pedicure take to dry?</strong></h2>

<p>A pedicure done with standard (non-gel) nail polish will dry in around 20 minutes.</p>

<p>But it takes a lot longer than that to fully set.</p>

<p>You should be careful not to touch or knock your nails for at least 2 hours after the treatment.</p>

<p>And I&#8217;d recommend avoiding water for as long as possible too.</p>

<p>Gel pedis dry much more quickly, so you should be good to leave the salon pretty much straight away.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long does a salon pedicure last?</strong></h2>

<p>Your salon pedicure should last at least a month.</p>

<p>To keep your feet looking their best, you should get a fresh pedicure every 4 to 6 weeks.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/calender.jpg" alt="calender https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-4305" width="458" height="358" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 42" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/calender.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/calender-300x235.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/calender-768x601.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px" /></figure>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want to spend the money on regular salon visits, you can give yourself a treatment at home.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not as relaxing as going to a salon, but it&#8217;s a lot cheaper!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Factors that can affect the time it takes to do your pedicure</strong></h2>

<p>Although the times listed in this post are exact, there are some key factors that can affect the time it takes to get your feet looking gorgeous.</p>

<p>Here is a list of things that can affect how long it takes to get a pedicure:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>The type of service you want</li><li>The type of polish you choose</li><li>How experienced your nail technician is</li><li>The condition of your feet and toenails</li><li>How often you get them done</li><li>Whether you want a design</li><li>How long you take to pick out a color</li><li>How talkative you are!</li></ul>

<p>This last one is key.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re the type of person who likes to chat during your salon visits, it&#8217;s going to take longer.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m not saying you should be a silent statue, but try to be mindful of the fact that your nail technician is trying to work and that other people might be waiting for their turn.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Benefits of a pedicure</strong></h2>

<p>So apart from making your toes look pretty, are there any benefits to getting regular pedicures?</p>

<p>It turns out there are!</p>

<p>Here are some of the benefits of getting a pedicure:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Helps to improve circulation in your feet.</li><li>They can prevent and treat nail fungus.</li><li>Gets rid of dead skin cells.</li><li>They can make your feet smell nicer.</li><li>Relieves stress and tension.</li><li>They can help you to relax.</li><li>They can boost your confidence.</li></ul>

<p>If you get pedicures regularly, you&#8217;ll probably find that your feet are in better condition overall.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure.jpg" alt="french pedicure https://nailhow.com/category/pedicure/" class="wp-image-12924" width="612" height="512" title="The Pedicure Time Guide: How Long Should Yours Take? 43" srcset="https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure.jpg 1000w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-300x251.jpg 300w, https://dldz1zle2655n.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/french-pedicure-768x644.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px" /></figure>

<p>This is because you&#8217;re taking care of them on a regular basis and dealing with any problems early on.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Final thoughts:</strong></h2>

<p>Let&#8217;s have a quick recap, shall we?</p>

<p>Getting a pedicure is a great way to take care of your feet and keep them looking their best.</p>

<p>In this article, we have talked about the different types of pedicures, how long they take to do, how much they usually cost, and what you can expect from each service.</p>

<p>We have also discussed the benefits of getting regular pedicures and some factors that can affect the time it takes to do them.</p>

<p>So if you&#8217;re looking for a way to relax and improve your foot health, a pedi is definitely worth considering!</p>
